Recent events: Development of Six National HIV/AIDS Clinical Protocols for Turkmenistan

In response to a request from the UNFPA/Turkmenistan office and with financial support from UNFPA and AIHA's "Strategic Health Partnership initiative", AIHA and Knowledge Hub experts from the Federal AIDS Center developed the following six national HIV/AIDS clinical protocols based on the HIV/AIDS Treatment and Care Clinical Protocols for the WHO European Region:

  • Patient Evaluation and Antiretroviral Treatment for Adults and Adolescents 
  • Management of Hepatitis B and HIV Co-infection 
  • Management of Opportunistic Infections and General Symptoms of HIV/AIDS 
  • Palliative Care for People Living with HIV 
  • Post-exposure Prophylaxis for HIV Infection 
  • Support for Sexual and Reproductive Health in People Living with HIV 
Through this project, AIHA facilitated two workshops with Russian HIV/AIDS experts from the Federal AIDS Center and key national working groups in Ashgabat June 25-29 and August 28-29. The protocols developed are currently under revision by a group of national specialists and they will be available at the  Knowledge Hub web site as soon as they are finalized.
